 The ABC's of CBC

A simple process for moving from Salvation To Service

For the person who attends CBC, the ABC’s is an acrostic for our systematic process designed to aid them along their spiritual journey. They are the building blocks to life and ministry here at CBC. It is designed to assist and guide as one moves from salvation, to spiritual maturity, to significant ministry.

Acquaint=I Attend

Step #1  Attend at least 3 worship services before making a decision to stay at CBC or look elsewhere.

Step #2  Become acquainted with who we are; what we believe; what ministries we offer; and what the expectations are for those who choose to make CBC their regular place of worship.

Step #3  Attend one or two classes during the Fellowship & Learning Hour (adults, teens and childrens).  They can help you to learn why we believe what we believe, and to get an overview of the foundations for the Christian faith (e.g. Who is God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit?  What is the gospel of salvation?  How to dicsover your spiritual gift.).

Hebrews 10:25-25 (NLT)

"Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.  And not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near."

Bond=I Participate

Step #1  Particpate in ABF classes in order to find your perfect fit.

Step #2  Participate in ministry groups in order to begin connecting with CBC family members.

Step #3  Participate in fellowships and/or other events (1) in order to grow and mature in your faith.  (2) in order to build relationships of accountability.

Romans 12:4-5 (NLT)

"Just as our bodies have many parts and each part has a special function, so it is with Christ's body.  We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other."

Commit=I Am

Step #1  I am taking time out for personal reflection on my spiritual condition.

Step #2  I am reflecting upon my personal commitment in my walk with Christ.

Stpe #3  I am evaluating my commitment to personal Bible study; prayer; worship; conduct; character and attiude toward church.

Step #4  I am making the necessary adjustments in order to reflect an increasing level of spiritual maturity.

2 Peter 1:5-7

"But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love."

Serve=I Do

Step #1  Consider your area(s) of gifting, your passion and your personal temperament.

Step #2  Take inventory of all of the ministry opportunities that CBC has to offer.

Step #3  Elect to actively participate in one or more CBC ministry.  This will allow you to use and develop your area(s) of spiritual gifting.

The ABC's are designed to permeate every aspect of CBC. Not only do the four words describe a process, they also describe spiritual principles; as well, they are descriptive of the Great Commission.

Matthew 28:19-20 (NKJV)
